CARDIOLOGY

CARDIOLOGY

A cardiac exam will give us much-needed information regarding your pet’s heart condition, and it takes knowledge and special equipment to examine the heart properly. Here at The City Vet Clinic, we have cardiac specialists like Dr. Danilo and Dr. Isabel. They could be able to investigate the heart organ of your dog or cat thoroughly, prescribe the appropriate cardiac medications and provide you with a detailed cardiological report.

Most common symptoms of cardiac issues in dogs and cats to watch out for:

  • Coughing
  • Difficulty Breathing
  • Rapid & Shallow Breathing
  • Abdominal Distention
  • Exercise Intolerance
  • Weakness or Collapse
  • Grey or Blue Gums
  • Irregular Heartbeat

If your pet has been diagnosed with a heart murmur, it is recommended to always watch for the above signs. And if your pet exhibits one or more of these symptoms, call us as soon as possible for an immediate plan of action.

THE CARDIAC EXAM

The complete cardiological examination will include necessary tests to pinpoint your pet’s heart condition. These tests may include an echocardiogram, EKG, digital x-rays, colour doppler ultrasound heart scan, and a blood pressure measurement. After reviewing these tests, we will discuss with you your pet’s heart condition and treatment options. There are many treatment options available for pets with heart disease which means your pet can lead a normal & healthy life.
